Make a Difference

Please support Ohketeau Cultural Center: A space to be culturally conscious and renew our connection to land, arts, and each other. We refer to it as Placed Based Education; Connecting the land, plants, animals, and water – a holistic engagement in traditional, cultural, and ecological practices.

The work intersects with STEM skills through coordinating workshops to have our youth conduct research, and collect data to learn about nutrition, traditional uses and medicines, plant identification, sustainability, ecosystems, the life cycle of a plants and animals, precipitation, insect, animal and bird migration patterns, ecosystems, environment, and erosion. This work incorporates the spiritual and emotional aspect that western science leaves out. These practices are not only beneficial to supporting Tribal cultures, but also highlights identifiable goals for our greater society, such as taking care of our environment, learning and sharing Tribal Environmental Knowledge, sovereignty, compassion, and peace building through mutual respect and reciprocity.

All in all, supporting Ohketeau is an environmentally friendly and sustainable way to show support and to get involved.
