TAKE ACTION

The Ohketeau Cultural Center recognizes the destructive and harmful effects of Native American mascots, and supports the bill to ban all Native American mascots in Massachusetts. Mascots do not honor Native Americans, but they do however perpetuate a stereotype and mythology that does not allow a true learning and cultural experience to take place. To learn more about the harmful effects of mascots and how you can take action, click on the links below.

ACTION ALERT

We are asking supporters of the mascot bill (SD. 417/HD. 646) to write your state senators (only senators at this time) asking that they please co-sponsor the bill. You can find their email here: https://malegislature.gov/search/findmylegislator

We have a few co-sponsors already on the senate bill: https://malegislature.gov/Bills/192/SD417
